Fall is in the Air

I have not seemed to have time to post on my blog lately. We have been working on lots of projects and with my three kids I just seem to be busy. At night when I have an opportunity to post I am always tired or something more urgent needs to get done. However, tonight I am not going to bed until I post something.

Cody had Friday off work. We have been working on the sprinklers in the backyard and decided that if we finished them on Thursday or Friday morning we would go up Farmington canyon and take a lunch to see the pretty leaves. We finished the sprinklers on Friday morning and then packed up and left.

It was beautiful. We went up on the mountain for a long time. It is a really good dirt road. However, we had to about drag Ty out of the car when we would stop because he thought he would fall down the mountain. We took some pictures of us. My favorite is that in a lot of them Ty is trying to look like he is having a great time, when in fact you can tell he is quite nervous and just wants to get it over with.

At the bottom of the canyon there was a pond where we stopped to eat lunch. We all had a really good time. I think Ty was pretty relieved when we were finally on paved road. We obviously need to take him to the mountains more.

To make sure we remembered family during our trip we did a few things in honor of certain members of my family. To remember dad, I took a picture out the window of the car. However, it wasn't in true dad style because I wasn't driving and Cody stopped the car. We also got a flat tire to remember Becky and Scott.

First Day of Preschool

Ty went to his first day of preschool. He was so excited he woke up at 6:30 a.m. He seemed to be climbing the walls all morning until he got to go. I didn't even have to ask him twice to go to the bathroom before we left.

He learned about bugs. They made bug eyes, cut paper, played bug hopscotch and went on a bug hunt. He had such a great time. He was a bit disappointed when we walked home and I told him he couldn't go again until next week. He was ready to go to the next house for preschool all over again.

His preschool has 6 boys in it and we are just switching houses. I only have to have the 6 boys at my house every 6 weeks. Hopefully it will be fun for him and for Paige, Brock and I.

Day at the Park

On Thursday we decided to have a picnic at the park. We met Becky, Aubree and Sydney as well as Rebecca, Phil and Londyn. We had such a good time. The weather was perfect. Ty and Paige played really well. Paige is finally starting to go off and play.

After we were done eating lunch and playing we went and fed the ducks. The kids loved it. In true Becky fashion we took some pictures. Becky took the pictures, Rebecca held the large diffuser and I made a fool of myself trying to get the kids to smile. We all got some pretty good pictures of our kids.

It was a very pleasant and fun day at the park. It was nice to get out and let the kids play while the adults relaxed and just talked and laughed.

Labor Day Weekend

We spent Labor Day weekend with Cody's family at Mom and Dad Stevens' cabin. It was a lot of fun. We went up on Friday and came home on Monday. We took rides on the 4-wheelers and had a great time playing games.

Cody bought me a game for christmas that we hadn't really played yet. Game playing sure comes to a halt with 3 kids. We were able to play all sorts of games. It was really nice to have extra helpers with the kids.

On Sunday we went to church. We are not use to having a quiet sacrament meeting and our kids were out of control. They were about the worst they have ever been. We were a bit mortified. We are going to have to practice sitting nicely at home so we can do it at church.

The only problem was that the vents were not working properly in the cabin and every time the wind came up the cabin smelled of sewer. Sunday night we headed outside in the wind to have a hot dog roast to get away from the smell of the cabin.

Grandma brought candy necklace makings for the kids and they loved them. Paige didn't realize it was candy until Christy put some in her mouth. After that, we couldn't get it out of her mouth. We even ended up prying it out of her hair.

Ty really liked the indoor smores Christy made with him. Both he and Paige were covered in chocolate. I was able to perfect my methods with the 4x4 rubik's cube and Cody was able to relax and take a nap every day.

We always have such a good time at the cabin. Ty's highlight of course was the cycle-bikes.

Then and Now

Monday night we watched the video we made of our family for 2007. Cody and I were amazed at the changes that have taken place in our children. I decided I would put pictures of Ty and Paige from one year ago and then current pictures.

Paige Aug. 2008

I had to add this last picture of Paige because it is quite indicative of her mood swings right now. Lately she has chosen to cry a lot. Of course none of her crying is provoked by her big brother. Some days I wonder if Ty wakes up and says to himself "How many hours can I make Paige cry today?"

Our Favorite Things

I have had a hard time thinking of things to go on our blog this week. Today I decided I was going to post our favorite things.

Ty's favorite things are Lightning McQueen, Doc Hudson and The King. He also has Mater but we don't know where he is. Anytime anyone will play cars with Ty he is a happy boy.

Paige loves books. She will bring book after book for us to read. She won't necessarily sit through the whole book but she loves them.

Brock loves to suck on his hand. I have caught his thumb in his mouth a time or two. It gets pulled out and I put the binki in very quickly. I don't really want another thumb sucker if I can help it.

Cody told me his favorite thing was his pillow. However, I know it is really his alarm clock. He loves it when it goes off every morning at 5:00 a.m.

I had a hard time deciding what my favorite thing is. I came up with three. The first was 3 sleeping kids, however, the only picture I would have gotten was 3 empty beds. I also love my garden. I am getting lots of corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans. Cody thinks it is a sin to have more than one vegetable at dinner. We have been doing a lot of sinning lately.

The other thing I have really been enjoying lately is not changing a cute little boy's diaper. He has been doing pretty good going on the potty. I don't think I have changed his diaper in a couple of weeks. His cute little underweared bottom is so pinchable. I love it!

Even though our lives are a bit caotic right now it is good to remeber those little things that just make us happy!

Two Months Old

Brock turned two months old yesterday. Today I took him for his doctor appointment. He is a healthy little boy.

Length - 23 1/2 inches - 75%
Weight - 13.5 lb. - 85%
Head - 39.5 cm. - 30%

It looks like Brock is taking in his brother's footsteps by being a big kid! We sure love our Brock!
